Smart Data Canarias Background

Smart Data Canarias

Smart Data Canarias is funded under the European Union’s Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan – Next Generation EU – through an agreement between the Canary Islands Government’s Department of Tourism and Employment and the Network of Hotel and Non-Hotel Federations and Associations “Smart Data Canarias” to implement the tourism data intelligence project “SMART DATA CANARIAS: COLLABORATIVE SYSTEM FOR TOURISM INTELLIGENCE AND SUSTAINABILITY”.

The platform
An innovative and pioneering technological tool The project proposes a tourism intelligence system that captures, organizes and analyzes data to improve efficiency, reduce impacts and support evidence-based decisions.

Smart Data Canarias unifies the scattered information of the regional ecosystem and offers it in a accessible and comparable way to hotels and employer associations.

Unlike commercial platforms, it is specifically designed for the Canary sector and is based on an ethical and sovereign management model, where data remains under the custody of employer associations.

WHAT MAKES IT UNIQUE?
Infrastructure and
data governance
Ensures security and collaboration:
Solution 1
Cloud data warehouses The system contemplates the creation of four cloud data warehouses, one for each tourism employer association, operating autonomously
Comparative structure Although autonomous, the warehouses are designed and structured so that information can be interconnected and compared.
Confidentiality and security The structure allows sharing key information while maintaining the security and confidentiality of each establishment's data, which is a basic requirement of the project
Integration and
data capture
Unify and normalize information from multiple internal and external hotel sources:
Solution 2
Hotel management systems PMS Collects key data from hotel management systems (PMS)
Market Sources Unifies information from online reputation, air connectivity and benchmarking data such as STR.
IoT Devices and Sustainability Allows integration of data from IoT devices installed in accommodations
Intelligence
and forecasting
To enhance strategy and decision-making, the platform incorporates advanced tools:
Solution 3
Forecasting Models The system contemplates the creation of four cloud data warehouses, one for each tourism employer association, operating autonomously
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Implements AI models to identify anomalies and recommend actions based on intelligence.
Alerts and forecasting Generates pick-up alerts and provides demand forecasts
Dashboards
and key indicators (KPIS)
Unifies data captured from hotel management systems (PMS) and IoT devices, providing centralized information to optimize decisions
Solution 4
Real-Time Competitive and Operational Indicators The system offers a shared dashboard with more than 70 key sector indicators (KPIs).
Competitive Analysis and Anonymous Benchmarking Compare their performance anonymously with a competitive set they can choose (up to five establishments).
Sustainability and Energy Efficiency Monitoring The dashboard integrates sustainability indicators associated with consumption and supplies.
