Turismo de Islas Canarias promueve la digitalización turística
February 24, 2026
Canary Islands Tourism promotes a programme for the online marketing of tourist experiences: resources, training and advice for selling online at no cost.
Within the tourism value chain, activities and experiences represent the emotional value of the trip. They make up the moments that give meaning to the journey and transform a stay into a lasting memory.
Currently, there are around 1,500 tourism activity companies in the Canary Islands offering unique experiences and contributing, together with the people, to building the identity of the destination. However, more than half do not market through their website and only one in three is on online marketing platforms.
To reduce this gap and boost the visibility of businesses, Turismo de Islas Canarias has launched the Canarias Destino Acceleration Programme, a free initiative that helps local businesses reach new markets, integrate into the marketing channels used by international tourists, and actively participate in the destination's digital economy.
The Canarias Destino Acceleration Programme offers the first 240 companies to register a specialised booking system, free of charge for one year, a tool that allows them to sell experiences online, synchronise availability across the main tourism channels, collect payments securely and automate processes. It also includes support and technical advice: from system configuration to improving descriptions.
It is aimed at businesses that already have a digital presence—such as a website, Google Business Profile, and social media accounts—but have not yet managed to activate online sales.
Participating in the Canarias Destino Acceleration Programme will also be the gateway for less digitised companies to the destination's official Marketplace, hosted on the website www.holaislascanarias.com , a new online experience sales channel with more than 16 million visits per year, available in 18 languages and with a large advertising investment. This new showcase will enable companies to reach travellers from 32 international markets.
The objective is clear: for every business to be prepared to sell online independently and for us to work together to improve the competitiveness of the destination. The Canary Islands Destination Acceleration Plan is committed to an innovative and diverse tourism model that helps family businesses, active tourism entrepreneurs, guided activities and complementary offerings to prepare for the challenges of the future. Now, they have the tools to do so.
